  1. As above really. MK3 XR and RS = 240mm MK4 XR = 240mm MK4 RS = 260mm If it helps, the 260mm disc, pads and calipers are the same as Ford Sierra and Granada (calipers and pads only on Granada) with ABS or all V6 models (except DOHC 2.0 4x4 models which have the same calipers but narrower discs). You just swap sides, i.e. Escort left is Sierra/Granada right and vise-versa.
  2. I should be able to make this. Will be in the Grey 4x4 Sierra though.
  3. Latest update for this one is the new AVO -20mm springs which arrived on my desk yesterday. Nice progressive set as well. The Spax which were on there are fine, but I think the ride could do with softening ever so slightly as it can get a little bumpy on really bad roads. They worked wonders on the Saff 4x4, so should be alright on this.
  4. The cap barrel will fit into a MK4 cap which will fit into the original aperture, but the ignition barrel will not. The physical outer diameter is the same, but the location settings are completely different. You would need to accurately CNC machine the inner lock housing where the barrel sits to make it work. I have had a one done for a project I am involved with, but it is quite involved and fiddly due to the construction of the alloy casing. Remember as well, if fitting MK4 door locks to a MK3 car, the barrels will work the opposite way round, unless you modify the door lock holes accordingly. By "work the other way round", I mean that on a MK4, any key will lock the car, only the right one will open it. If you put MK4 door barrels into a MK3 with out the mod, then any key will open the doors, but only your one will lock it. Been there, done all this, and am doing it all on this MK3 S1 so it looks factory.
  5. Just tidying up a few engine pieces, mounts etc... Might do some bits under the car as well. Also looking @ fabricating another boot strut setup to help hold the bootlid up.
  6. Theoretically the old girl will be laid up until she is needed. Tyres are pumped up to 50psi, so should be good for winter and onwards and the oil is still fresh (always gets changed for new Millers oil every re-tax). But, in real life, I am sure that she will get the battery reconnected and moved out the garage a couple of times for me to get things out from behind on the racking. Also, I have a habit of taking things off over winter to refresh or recondition them (brakes last year, she sat for 3 months with no front or rear brakes so had to be careful rolling her out each time).
  7. Will be until at least April or May next year, but depending on the financial situation, it could even be that time the year after. The next year for me and Paula is going to be a tight one financially but I do not see it being longer than that. The car is still insured and will continue to be so, regardless of anything else that happens, it also has an MOT now, so I may be able to use the trade plates from work if I get the chance.
  8. managed to find a couple of bits in the rear arch where the stone-chip had been knocked off, so that had to be rubbed back and treated Inside the car was already clean, so a quick once-over with some dash cleaner was all that was required. I have managed to source some genuine Ford carpet mats so they will be going in the next time the car goes on the road, instead of the current rubber ones. All the headlamp and spotlamp protectors have been removed for storage and put away inside, just in case. And now, the old girl is all put away in her garage ready for whenever the next time she gets taxed.
  9. Well, what with show season being over and autumn/winter most definitely upon us, the time has come for the cabriolet to retire to its winter resting hole. The car has done quite a few shows in the past year and has clocked up 1,278 miles 6 months to shows and club meets so it was starting to look a little "grubby". First thing was an MOT. It is always nice to put a car away knowing that nothing needs to be done ready for the next year, so on Friday it went in, and came out a little while later with a fresh MOT with no advisories The MOT tester was younger than the car :-/:-/ but it did get everyone in there stopped to have a good look around it and got a few nice comments Then, today it was out for a final cleanup ready for storage. The outside was already pretty clean with just a few bits of grass and rain-dirt from its trip back from the Battlesbridge show the previous Sunday, so a quick once-over and an extra coat of wax, some AutoGlym glass polish and the body was done. Wheels got a thorough going over ... all that from one 40 mile road trip in the rain Suspension was all cleaned up and the arches thoroughly washed out
  10. UKFORDOC are pleased to announce that their monthly meets are restarting after a summer break due to the show season. Now that is over, business can resume as normal. I expect the first meet may be a little quieter than normal, but don't let that put anyone off, it just means you get a better chance to say hello. The meet will be held on the first Saturday of every month from 6pm at: The Colney Fox 1 Barnet Road London Conley AL2 1BL The venue is 1 minute from the M25 junction 22. The food and service is excellent and is served right up until 10pm. Anyone is welcome, bring a Ford, bring any car. The people are who make the meets, the cars are just an added bonus.
  11. What is happening for the tickets? Meeting @ the cafe again like last time?
  12. Well, it looks like I am out of the running for this show. I will have about £40 left for the month after bills, so the cabriolet is sitting up in the garage until the end of September. I just can;t justify another £10 out of that for a show.
  13. Well, if it is pay on the day, then I see no reason why me and Paula cannot make it Now all I need to know is when to get there, etc...
  14. How do you pay? On the gate or beforehand? Only reason is that I am interested, but have no money until after Bank Holiday weekend.
  15. I should be there with Paula, probably not in the cabby though as it will be all tucked away nice and clean.
  16. Guessing she still starts and runs okay then?
  17. Aye, she does sound nicer and starts the way they are meant to Just remember gear oil
  18. So, any updates yet????
  19. Yep, most likely the spring has gone weak.
  20. The most accurate way is to take the clocks apart and get the part number from the rev counter itself and post it here. I can tell you from that. The number will be something like 88AB 17360 AA. I think some models had a different number underneath the needle spindle, but it is late and I can't remember for sure.
  21. The fuel gauge and temp gauges are a year definition, not a model or engine specification. Pre 1988 had the fuel on the right, post 1988 had the fuel on the left. The reason that your rev counter is only reading half rpm is because it is only seeing half rpm. You need the rev counter from a non-EFI car, or you need to rewire the green wire on the dash clocks plug to a different pickup source within the EDIS module. I would swap the rev counter over personally. EFI (CVH and HCS-engined) cars have a specific rev counter. Same as if you put EFI clocks into a non-EFI car, as soon as you put your foot down and rev the car, the needle will flip straight past the redline and end up the wrong side of the needle-stop as it will be seeing twice the actual rpm.
  22. There should be some somewhere as I know @ least one person had a camera out. Was a good morning I must say, other than the part where one of the owners came out as I left and I thought I heard her ask people to "hurry up" for want of a better expression... Was good to meet a few of you again.
  23. Onto the wheeltrims, these were removed the previous weekend and taken into work for a little freshen up. Before: They were then rubbed back with a DA sander and some 800 grit. Once any deep scrapes were removed, they were cleaned off with some degreaser and some filler putty applied where necessary before being 2K primed and more putty being applied as necessary after flatting back. Then, into the booth for some coats of Vauxhall Star Silver and lacquer. The finished product... Not as intricate or as intensive as most on here, but for me, it is a FOC daily hack to stop the "nice" cars getting ruined, so this is about the best it gets
  24. After... I have not applied any wax ATM as the car is out in the sun currently and the white paint is just too hot to apply anything without drying too quickly. That will hopefully be a job for tomorrow morning.
  25. Well, as the weather has been so good this week and is set to continue :thumb::thumb: I thought it was the right time to give the old daily work hack a once-over. Now, bear in mind that the car is left under trees, on the side of the road, anywhere basically around work (SE London) and has not actually been washed in over 5 months Some before pics... Well, first off was a quick once-over with the pressure-washer (all 1600psi) to try and remove the worst of the muck. Left to dry for 10 minutes then a liberal coating of AutoSmart Triple diluted to about 2:1 was sprayed over before another pressure-wash. Next was onto the wash-mitt with a healthy dose of AG Shampoo & Conditioner. Couple of washes with that with pressure-wash cleans inbetween and we were left with a nice, clean(ish) car. Then onto the door shuts, window edges, etc... with the pressure washer and the "agitator" driveway cleaner attachment to get any hard-to-reach areas. The whole car was then dried using a pair of drying towels from CostCo (not bad actually, especially for the price). Out next was the 3M FastCut. This was applied using the AutoSmart dual-orbiter SmartTool. 2 layers of that and it was onto the 3M Hologram remover. Once any residue was removed, it was out with the AG EGP and left for 20 minutes before removing. Next was the windows, inside and out with AG Glass Polish. Some AG Bumper Care went liberally onto the bumpers before applying some tyre-shin and then the freshly refinished wheel trims went back on.
