i know mate, filling that hole was a bit stupid of them, similar with the rear bumper, it had the strip still fitted that i wanted removing (replacing with new black one) i snapped a couple of inches of the side of it just so they cant forget to remove it, and they prepped & painted it even though it was broken!! he looked and said no worries il paint the strip black, err, no, then it wont match the front! still didnt realise it was snapped/broken after painting it! anywhoo, i was brave and drilled into the boot, through the bondo,(blasting warps ) to find the threaded hole, now on the car, thats one issue sorted! pic above its not shut properly, it does have proper lines lol no time on it till next week now, next weeks plans are get the engine in, and do the polishing!

Overall it is a good job paint wise, they've just rushed the final part, its just not been buffed enough to get rid of some light flatting, that's what's making it look patchy, its only in certain light up close, but I am fussy! I'm gunna mop it up with some g10 and hopefully that should sort it.

it was a good choice on the colour ian your right, but to be honest im not happy with the car, i got it out today in good direct sunlight and had a good ganders, the drives side is almost patchy looking, but its where its been flatted down and not polished up properly, theres a few bits over it im not happy with tbh. il mop it up myself now and sort it out. theres lots of niggly bits over it, not what you expect after paying good money!! another proplem is the boot! i went to put it on today but one of the holes each side for the hinge has been filled in and painted over luckily if i look in at the right angle in decent light up close i can see a tiny outline in the lacquer! il have to drill it out and re tap it, i aint taking it back or they will just grind it back and re paint it, after the hassel of the bonnet and boot so far im not risking them buggering it up when its now ok! its all just shit that i shouldnt have to do! small rant over! pic of said boot problem

finally got her back well all apart from the bonnet as its being a bit troublesome, but saves me storing it and potentially damaging it while the engine goes in, and il get it at a later date when its ready. wasnt a good day weather wise to transport a cabriolet with no roof on the wall from 2011 same old issue with space and storage now to find the time

if the relay was faulty the car wouldnt run. cheaper pumps can be noisey, mine was for a while then did get a bit better after time. check the rubber mounts too, the vibration may make louder

Belt snapped?

a few from today, still needs flatting back and a polish and a couple of minor bits, im getting eager now!

I'm happy with the colour Colin, still wasn't sure on it when they took the car in, but right choice. Glad to of gotten rid of the smoothed bumpers and stuff, originals look so much better. Just been doing a few bits to the engine putting few bits on it and yet more cleaning covers/brackets! Wont know where to start when I get her back lol

A couple of imperfections were found after its first coat of base colour, so they've been sorted, hoping its been painted this afternoon. One random pic of it rubbed down, no more orange 😐

made the effort to go see how it was progressing today, new rear arches welded, new wing on, petrol cap area replaced and a few other small welding jobs completed, the under side has all been cleaned up and there going to put fresh seal on it. few problems poped up with it but its getting there!

nothing overly exciting, no up to date pics of the car, il get some later in the week. new clutch, water pump and cambelt fitted this evening,

ended up lacquring it in the end, glad its finished lol

cleaning a gearbox is so shitty! but got it done in the end, primed with etch primer this morning, ready for top coat in the morning, still unsure if to lacquer it or not, il decide that tomorrow! done the stat housing while I was at it too. should look spanking tomorrow (im yet to look at the dizzy ian, shall let ya know!!)

Put it in fourth position then connect it to the box, or reverse position, gives a good start on it. Best with two people so one can tweak it from underneath

engine painted, gotta sort the rocker cover and tidy up the inlet a tad more. refurbed the pump cradel too, also done the tank strap to go nicely with the new tank. ive got various brackets and bits and bobs everywhere cleaning them up etc, sending me loopy. id rather a clean original freshly coated rocker cover but this one will do to tidy it up for the time being

But yeah try euros, they stock all kinds of stuff for a mk4 so should imagine they do mk5 bits,
