A whole roof is easyer to do than just the outer skin !!!

there is a comprehensive fitting guide in the downlaod section. i thought about it, but after reading the guide, i thought geta frme and roof complete. that way its alot easier. ind you, peopleon here said they watched the fitter of thier new roof, and thought it looked easy. good luck.

I fitted a new outer skin(vinyl) only on my mk4 cabby and only took 3hrs, long cable round the back with loads of fairy liquid for easy fitting, trim tack the ront lip then bolt everything up, easy peasy lemon squeezy.

I got the installation guide from carhood wharehouse, read it.....and 4 main things made me decide to pay them to come and do it

1. Everyone on here said to replace the cable at the same time, if its rusted it may snap when you tension it back up. (£25)

2. The recommended glue (special heat resistant stuff) I went through my catalogues in work and its was £20 a tin.

3. You have to cut the hole for the rear window yourself...didnt want to balls that up.

There fitted price (with new cabel) was only £50 more than the cost of the new roof/cable/glue put together....so I thought it was worth letting them do it and getting the warranty.

I will post the carhood warehouse fitting guide if I can find it, it should still be on me email somewhere.

Not fo rthe faint hearted, if you are good with mechanics etc, then worth a try, plus leave a few days in play just in case it isnt done properly. Also if you dont have a garage make sure the weather is good.
