Escort Cabriolet Club
I'm going to find doing this a lot easyer as I have all the relays and the thermal cut out on the pump but I don't have all the garbge under the dash board, when I fit the power roof I just need to fit the switch, connect it to the live and earth it, well, thats the plan lol !!! Guest tippers
If your car is a mk5/6 its so easy it took me two minutes to get it to work.although i havent got a switch to turn it off but im the only one who drives my ca.in rthe boot there is two relays joined together all you have to do is earth one wire from this not sure which one ill chek mine and tell you the colours then hey presto it works always done to the cabs ive had.No messin about pulling relays and making bodges, plus if you dont know much about electrics its the easy option. Escort Cabriolet Club
Yes it is a Mk5a !!! EXCELLENT !!! I got EVERYTHING for the roof, I left all the crap under the dash as it was too much of a head ache to wire it to factory spec, but I got everything else, the pivot pins for the rams, all the circ clips, and around 20 of the hydro-pipe fixings, they are the plastic C shaped efforts that screw on to the threaded bolts that run down both sides of the boot, I even got the boot trim that goes over the pump and the trim plugs from all the carpet in the boot lol, should look tidy !!! "Have not seen this in real life, so dont know how S1&2 operate, but to make a clean job of it and remove RIII, RIV, SI & SII you need to connect pin 85 on either RI or RII to -ve." could've saved a bloody lot of typing if I had just said that in the first place lol
Guest markeyboy
so is it just remove it from one relay n earth it or take a lead off and earth that?

Guest markeyboy
erm it didnt work, i had both relays connected as should with a lead off of that to earth, turned the ignition on and the roof went bk all on its own, am i supposed to remove pin / wire from one and earth it rather than what i did? Guest sjc
the two pin 85's have to stay connected and earthed, you could take the wire going away from 85 and earth it.
Guest markeyboy
i disconnected one of the 85 connections and earthed that, (was a green and yellow wire) the roof wouldnt drive down, only up i cant get my head round this, :icon_cry:
Guest sjc
markey, markey, markey, mark, mark....your welcome to pop it round mate, but I would say its only the relay your earthing thats working. make sure both 85 are earthed, seperatley if needs be, but the drawing does show them already connected together......X

Guest Alanman
When we put the electric pump in our mk3 cos its was from scratch we wired it straight to the battery, fused of cause. Cant remember how it was done though, it was a few years ago. But it is cool to be able to put the roof down at traffic lights etc. I llike turning up at cruises and car shows and put the roof down as we roll in.
