Guest Deano1
Just a quick question Anyone Broke a Camshaft in Half? if so what else did it damage?
Guest username
Wow, not on a CVH no! How on earth did that happen? Bought a Xantia with a snapped camshaft and the bottom end was fubar, bent rod & all and those old XUD's are supposed to be bulletproof! I'd imagine you'll have at least a couple of bent valves, maybe damaged lifters/rockers and cam journal damage in the head but I would also want to strip the bottom end and make sure the rods & bearings haven't been compromised (as well as being easier to clean up any valve imprints on piston crowns without getting swarf in the engine). Would love to see some pics of the damage, sounds hardcore! hope it's not a pain to fix Edited March 17, 2017 by username
Ian71
Was it a standard Ford camshaft or a piper or similar high lift camshaft ? I had a Kent cam in my fiesta rs and two lobes disappeared leaving me with an engine rebuild.
Paul Grainger
Only seen it on a diesel. Caused by piston/valve contact due to timing belt failure. Never on a CVH.
