Quick tip for anyone who has a clutch pedal that is racheting when pressed and is thinking of replacing the ratchet and pawl.

 

DON'T! !!! Sell your escort now.

was it that bad then .. I remember doing the one on my mk4 years ago upside down in the footwell efing n blinding

banging my head and cut knuckles lol

bigjon told me it was easier to take the peddle box out ... I wasn't convinced

Yeah I have had all of the above, took me the best part of Saturday and Sunday.

 

I still have to put the bottom of my dash back together and refit the drivers seat as I'd had enough by Sunday night.

haha sounds right fun, fingers crossed our Mk5 doesn't reward our re-commissioning work with a game of "guess when you have to double-declutch" then! Remember my old Mk4 used to do that trick every now & then, not enough to make me climb under the dash though haha had enough of that kinda fun to last a lifetime, changing the clutch master cylinder on a mate's old E-Class!
