Guest Buyandsellperc
Hi all. Not long had my rs cab and spent a small fortune on bits and pieces. Anyway, i did an oil and filter change on friday and left it to drain overnight. Refilled and attempted to start it up saturday morning and it sounded like a subaru. Shaking engine, misfiring massivly and chugging out black smoke. It wouldnt idle at all. This morning it wont even start up at all. Ive checked spark plugs, leads. Theres a good spark from all 4. Group a coil fitted and its all good. Its an mfi rs turbo engine. The injectors are all spraying fine, the fuel pump is priming. Havent got a clue why its all of a sudden gone from running perfect to misfiring and not even starting? The oil i removed was well sticky too. Like a glue type feel to it and it stinks of petrol too. Could a previous owner added some sort of additive to mask a knackered engine? Im seriously at a loss with it. Please help. Steve
Ian71
Was the engine running ok before hand, was it slightly mis firing ? have you removed the sump or just the drain plug ?
Guest Buyandsellperc
It was running fine before hand. No misfire at all. I drained the old oil out with the drain plug. I didnt remove the sump.
Ian71
If it was running fine cant see why changing the oil should spark off a change in the engines running, might just be a coincedence and is now something electrical or a vacum pipe come off or leaking, oil thats thick might be a aditive for a old engine or worse sludge from a camshaft thats worn, sorry but i cant realy put a finger on why that should suddenly change so drastically. Good luck.
