Guest Lee81
A few sheered bolts on the exhaust is unlikly to cause high co. The co can be adjusted on the metering unit. Before doing so make sure to check the vacuum advance diaphram on the distributor isn't leaking. This will cause high rising co at idle. Also that you have new plugs, cap and rotor arm ( Only last around 6000 miles in some cases but are very cheap) Air leaks on inlet side will be more likly to cause low co and detonation so i doubt theres any major ones there. Be aware once you've get co in tolerance of any rattling when under load higher up rev range ( Detonation ) Most people bodge the MFI unit by setting co high at idle so higher up rev range it doesn't run lean. What is common is the spring that controls fuel pressure to get weaker over time. This causes lower fuel pressure. This can be adjusted by adding copper shims to the back of the spring to raise fuel pressure back to where is should be. Not many people will know how to do this. The shims are only 0.01mm thick and small increases make big changes to fuel pressure. Doing this will also work wonders for cold starting and improve all aspects of running. Most have never had this done.
