Guest rcdunk
Hi everyone I have decided to finally start a thread on my mk4 escort cab I bought the car in 2001 when I bought the car the spec was as follows mk4 1.6i cabriolet (according to the log book) the car had an rs turbo engine fitted , escort cosworth illusion bumpers front and rear rs turbo side skirts and bonnet and an evo rear wing escort gti wheels in white trim inside was standard 1.6i seats rear speaker pods had been modded to take 6x9 speakers and covered in blue felt front speaker kick panels had the same treatment the cab was used like this for a few years before running into problems with the old turbo lump it was getting a bit tired I had never really liked the turbo engine and decided to go back to a n/a engine so in approx. 2006 I took the cab off the road to start the engine swap to a 2 litre zetec engine running efi inlet manifold on megasquirt ecu this didn't take long to do as its a pretty easy swap to undertake I ran the car like this for about a year before deciding I wanted a bit more power so in 2007 I changed the efi manifold for bike carbs and a megajolt ecu thenin 2008 cab ownership sort of got put on hold due to real life stuff getting in the way marriage and 2 kids saw the cab sit pretty much unloved in the corner of the drive . I all this time I never had the heart to sell her even though the good lady wife said I should she always said she didn't really like it (could be something to do with our first proper date was sitting in a layby waiting for the AA to turn up when the turbo lump started to play up only for them to turn up to tow her home and find out it could not be towed up onto the truck as she was too low ) fast forward to earlier this month and now with time on my hands finally I decided to sort the old girl out and get her back on the road she was in a sorry state moss on the window rubbers dirty roof etc but all in all she was in pretty good shape so many buckets of soapy water later the car was moss free and clean (although in need of a good buff up to get her shiny again ) stuck a battery on her some fresh petrol and low and behold she started up with very little fuss mot was duly booked and she passed first time no problems so as we stand now the car is at the paint shop having a few bits of paint sorted and a good buff below are some old photos of her will post more as she is reborn over the next few weeks
