Guest Phoenix83
Hiya Thought you like to hear how my cabriolet coped with a long road trip! We decided to do a over night road trip to Tobacco road in the mk 3 cabriolet. I was a bit worried she wouldn't make it being an old ford but she did well! The trip almost didn't happen as just as we were packed to go my husband was poking under the bonnet and the bonnet stay gave way. He got a nasty clout on the head and passed out After a few hours I roped a friend in to driving and off we went.We made good time to the channel tunnel but then got refused entry to the train as we had got a flat tyre! No worrys says I we have a spare! Oppps not only was the spare slightly flat it was also the wrong size! Grabbed a few cans of tyre weld and we were off again! The cabby drove lovely to Belgium and coped so well, how ever on returning to the UK she decided she didn't like her bonnet anymore and it began to flap about on the M25! Eventually the bonnet catch gave way on the M11 and we were lucky not to have suffered much damage. We tied the bonnet shut with some cable to make it the last leg of the journey home. We are putting bonnet pins on for now but will need a new bonnet But overall I am happy with her performance and the mpg and would definatly take her to europe again. Guest Phoenix83
It was great fun but a bit stressful lol! I think next time I won't decide at 4pm that I want to go within a few hours and actually check all the tyres inc spare and stuff, bit of a rookie mistake! Never been to Amsterdam myself but we are planning on the nerburgring in the RS's sometime soon! Not sure the cabs would cope with that,
