Guest IanA
Had this happen to me on a V@uxh@ll V!v@ 1600 OHC. Teeth on the belt had stripped- crank pulley was just spinning and not turning anything else. Not an interference engine so fitted new belt, no probs. Guest Lee81
If your tuning it over and the cam belts not moving. The pulley bolt has loosened on crank. As said before it has no key way and is just friction held. You'll now find when done up you'll probably have a lot of bent valves and maybe piston damage. I would bother taking it to garage. I'd source a new second hand engine and get them to fit it. Pointless wasting labour taking it apart.
Admin Ollie Posted August 4, 2013 Author Admin Share Posted August 4, 2013 Yep total head recon all valves and guides £1200 later They reckon bolt wasn't tightened up correctly hence damage
Guest Lee81
Second hand engine and fitting would have come in at around £800.
Admin Ollie Posted August 4, 2013 Author Admin Share Posted August 4, 2013 Second hand engine and fitting would have come in at around £800. trouble was they brought the car from a garage and was told it had been serviced and new cambelt etc then this happened had it not been there main car they may of gone down that road lee but as you can imagine they were not very happy it had to be dealt with via the garage they got the car from

Admin Ollie Posted August 5, 2013 Author Admin Share Posted August 5, 2013 Long story taz they gave the job to someone else Now no one wants to take the blame or pay costs Not really sure of the ins n outs Turned out to be an expensive focus saloon as the clutch went a week later £450 :-(
Guest taz1787
ffs she didn't have much luck with it then but that said it does fall on the garage selling car under the sale of goods act 1979 even private sellers are now under these although a private you persue through a small claims court but a business / trader you don't it would be through standard channels i.e solicitor / courts etc more about the sale of goods act here http://www.which.co.uk/consumer-rights/regulation/sale-of-goods-act/
Guest IanA
Piston to valve contact can knacker the big ends as well- new shells needed.
