Guest famasfilms
Hi, I have seen an EFI Escort/Fiesta RS Turbo engine on Ebay. I asked the seller if it will go into my mk IV cabriolet. He said all it needs is the relevant wiring loom and ecu "and then your car will go like a rocket" Is this information correct? My understanding was an RS Turbo conversion requires other parts such as the correct radiator, as well upgrading of other parts eg gearbox, brakes, clutch etc.
Guest taz1787
first of all is your car a efi or a mfi engine then you need the correct wiring and ecu like said you will then need rst engine rad intercooler hoses exhaust possibly a petrol tank best way to do it would be to buy an escort rst donor car as everything you'll need will be there
Guest famasfilms
I honestly don't know which engine type it is...it's a 1990 g reg plate. What's the easiest way to tell them apart? I'll upload a picture later Sounds like the cost is quickly going to start adding up!

Guest famasfilms
I took a pic of my engine, can anyone tell me what type that is and what the best option would be in terms of engine replacement/upgrades e.g RS Turbo route or Zetec route Edited June 4, 2013 by famasfilms

Guest taz1787
well a zetec engine is the cheapest & easiest engine to install as you can use nearly all the parts you have but wiring them up isn't easy however if you could get a escort rst engine complete / loom & ecu's / exhaust / rad / intercooler / pipe work you can use your gearbox d/shafts petrol tank fuel pump etc so pretty easy to install and get running

Source a zetec engine with no additional parts needed Seems like the Zetec route is cheaper and less hassle?
Guest famasfilms
There's no way I will be able to fit this myself. Which garages/engine builders could carry this out? I have already been referred to Oddkidd Creations and Norris Motorsport, are there any others?
Guest famasfilms
I'm in Southampton..so a drive to Essex is feasible....a drive further north than Birmingham probably isnt
