well today iam very pleased - woke up to extra cash in the bank a very good sleep and a bit of sunshine showing.

thought id check gumtree for cars under 500 and came across the escort cabriolet 1995 in purple, funny story is i owned this car 6 years ago when i went to a family members funeral and it broke down coming back up the m6, parked it on my drive and some idiot had smashed the windscreen - way to much to fix at the time so sold it to some mechanic who said he would fix it up, he obviously passed it about a bit, i paid 800 for it at the time.

6 years later some dodgy dealer has it in his garden and up for sale for 200quid, looks the same not as shiny as it was back then i know its spent a year or two parked up and probs had another 20,000 mile or so added no mot or tax but it started and its running, was lumpy at first till i went and put some petrol in and went around the block a few times then it idled fine.

obviously sat there for about half an hour with it running see what would happen if it wasnt for waiting an extra 5 minutes i would have switched it off like he asked and wouldnt of seen the temperature gauge creeping up, wait a minute..

his idiot pal decides to unscrew the coolant cap and out bursts the water i looked and thought yeah right. "i'll come back with my pal later let him have a look at it" was the excuse to leave, so i got in my car and went drove 10 miles and got something to eat thinkin i should walk away and forget about the memories, i thought real and hard...

the paint work was ok but wasnt shining not that i care because i want a respray/wrap or something anyway cos the colour just doesnt suit me, got him to jack it up nice new exhaust solid underneath soft top workin as it should bit tough to budge but probs needs a grease up full leather interior electric packs etc i thought really the only problem is the mot and the overheating right?

the fan isnt switching on so maybe its a thermostat problem the worst it could be is the head gasket ?

so i went ahead and bought it anyway its sentimental and ive got the money now to maybe put a new engine in it, respray and style the interior, i paid £200 and £30 for some new tyres on the back and it delivered 20 mile down the road cos i obviously wasnt gonna drive it the way it was running.

Its got its mot booked for next week ive got some quotes for respray quotes etc there all hitting over the £1000 mark i was hoping at a push about £600 max cos iam gonna be forkin out a bit for an engine replacement by the looks of things, clock says 6000 so its obv hit the 106,000 mark but other than that all seams ok for a 200 quid car my budget is about 500 a month max to spend on it hopefully get it ready for this summer probs wont itll be next summer now with the cost of everythin any tips, advice support you name it and ill keep it updated regularly let you know how iam going first time restoration for me but hey iam bored got lots of free time and iam passionate about it.

momo alloys i think have not really checked a kna the back two was really bad nd he changed them,

so an update anyway cleaned out the coolant system other day put some green coolant in as it was just full of water and got a new battery on it today what a nightmare tryin to change the old flat terminals to round ones had some trouble gettin them off so a just snipped the wire, damn strut bar in the way had to take that off and put that back on (all for changing a battery) .. still at rough idle which i belive is the idle control valve?? starts up really rough but then after about 5 mins of keepin the revs up it settles and runs fine so gonna get that sorted first and obviously its still over heating but i done some research and iam gonna get the thermostat housin changed and should be a quick fix hopefully if not away to the engine rebuild shop will get pics as they come
