gingergman
took the font screen out today by cutting the old rubber as i had a new one, put the screen in with the new rubber but it dont fit properly! its too small, it was listed for a mk3 and i heard that they are skinnier rubbers? it seems to fit at the top but at the bottom and bottom corners its too small/short. anyone know? or can someone mesure the rubber on there mk4 for me? just the width so about an inch or whatever it is. cheers

allblue
If it is any consolation, I brought a Gen Ford windscreen rubber from Ford in 2002 and had it fitted by the bodyshop in 2004 after the respray. Six months later and the bloody rubber stated cracking around the edges!!! The aftermarket one I had previously was a lot better. Guest Cooderkey
Hi, I posted the following in the gallery with my MkVI a few months ago:- ' The windscreen was scratched a bit and a couple of stone chips, but the main problem was the windscreen seal rubber. It didn't leak at all, but it was bubbling in various places on both sides. I couldn't claim on the insurance for a new screen, so I forked out of my own pocket for a new screen and seal. Two great lads came to my home all the way from Chester and fitted a new screen and rubber. They were really quick, clean, efficient and two really good tradesman. I can recommend them most highly. The price was unbelievably low, and they even gave me an OAP discount. ' I don't know how much you are going to pay for a used windscreen and rubber, but if you drop me a line, I'll give you the details about the lads who did mine for me. They came to me, - a distance of 40miles, and did a superb job of fitting a new screen AND rubber. If you're in S-o-T, that can't be more than forty miles from Chester, so you might want to make an enquiry with them. I won't tell you exactly what I paid, but they reduced their initial quote from £140.00, because I'm a pensioner. I was delighted with the reduction, and their work was first class. I have no hesitation in recommending them.
