Last night I got a text to say the car had been stolen. Clever thieves to bypass alarm and immobiliser! [/left]

Guest ROJ
The thought had occured that someone just offered more - annoying as I would have too given the chance. Luckily I hadn't paid, but I had just paid to have it on my insurance! The reason for buying it is that some clown reversed his Mazda into ours and the insurance co said the repairs were more than the car is worth. http://www.aston-v8.co.uk/blog/wp-content/uploads/CIMG0301-300x225.jpg Edited October 9, 2011 by ROJ

allblue
Agree with Lee81 on this. Can't imaging someone trying to go through the trouble of bypassing immob/alarm to nick a mk6 cabrio. Market values are low and bits are not in demand, compared to the mk4 xr3i cabrios. Your damaged car looks pretty superficial. Did you consider buying it back from the insurance co? Guest Lee81
I'd repair the one you have. A wing, bumper and headlight wont cost much. You could get the parts for as little as £60. Using ebay you might even be able to get them in the right colour which will save on spray painting ( thats where the main cost is). Its not to involved and you could have these parts fitted in less than a day
Guest corrie
his feed back was only 3. not good. regards your car if you bought it back then some insurance companies will not re insure the car they have just paid out on as if there was to be another claim made against it then they dont want to pay a second time on a car they have already paid out on, so be careful. also you could push the insurance company for it to be repaired cos at the end of the day its your car not theirs, we had the same battle with our little N reg polo, it got bumped by an old man and they wanted to write it off, i told them there was no way they are going to write a car off with 18,500 miles on it even if it was 16 years old. i won and the car is repaired, i did speak to the bodyshop and said if there was underlying damage ie. internal bumper i was prepared to buy one to keep estimate down. there is always ways round it to stop them writing the car off.
