Guest john franklin
hi folks, took my newly purchased cabby for MOT, (first proper outing) journey started out ok and she was running fine, then we started experiencing KANGAROO juice, i would say it coincided with getting up to temp, managed to get to MOT station and the old girl passed, although emissions were high, within five minutes of the drive home the "juice" started again, couple of times she cut out and didnt really want to start again, at the traffic lights and bus lane!!! glad it was sunday, I'm thinking maybe auto choke stuck on? this is my first cabby/escort, its injected so where do i find the choke if indeed it has one, and how do i check it ?any other suggestions welcome, thanks for looking regards john

Guest tbirdbooboo
just a quicky as im getting similar issues from my 85 mk3 1.6i. it boggs out if driven a bit hard when it gets to higher rpm so im thinking fuel pump relay , pump or filter ... now its the mfi engine so is the filter the huge silver cylinder next to the air filter area or am i going to have to pop under the car or something ? gingergman
yeah thats the filter mate. if it was the relay the car would cut out
Guest tbirdbooboo
ahhhh , cool, well its just started doing it now when driving normal , the car does smell like its overfueling a little sometimes but im not going to get involved in adjusting the setup lol will change the filter and see how she is . cheers
Guest tbirdbooboo
did the filter but still bogs out here and there just for a split second , might sound silly but i reckon its just when i come off a roundabout so am now thinking it fuel pump or a tank issue . Guest tbirdbooboo
just an update , its definately when i come off a roundabout , also i noticed its major bad if i have passengers as i just gave 2 mates a lift and it was trouble every time i come off a roundabout, going to get a price on a new pump today but i think there might be some crud in the tank! d'oh!
