I just found this website in the web and since I own a Xr3i Mk4 from 1988 since past year, I decided to post here. My car is a black version and has 89.000 kms. I always was a fan of 100% or 99% original condition cars, so when I found this car for sale and saw the condition, I bought it for Euro.2100,00 After one year and about 3000 euros more and some hours of work, the car is now very Good. I have to say that the Body of the car didn't have a single corrosion, which is great. I made all the mechanic work and installed a new Hood, which I bought in UK. The car operations were: Timing chain replace 4 shocks kayaba Instrument cluster repair (bought more 2...) Almost new seats and door covers (had a big luck to find them in excelent condition. New steering rack ( the older was not good) this is a Hard job to do! New suspension bushes new radiator, although the original one was not leaking replaced the inner clock for an ebay one. removed the front dash to take out an old alarm wire instalation new fuel pump relay and several other things that I don't remind. The car is now very fine. The maximum speed I gave is 190kms/hour and it holds ok for a cabrio What I most like is the 2nd and 3rd gear. The car is really quick.
