Been a while since I updated this. Not a lot done to be fair, but figure I should put in a bit.

All the vinyl is off and it's back to being a purple car. Well, theres a cluster of cabbyclub logo's and a handful from "the other site", but pretty much back to purple.

She's SORN at the moment and waiting for me to start the jobs list. Hopefully by April, she will emerge once again as a glorious butterfly into the spring breeze that is cabby weather. Currently looking for a cheap set of coilovers and reset the ride height to -60mm. Too low at the moment to be useable. Pot holes, kerbs, speed humps, road works all cause massive problems. The roof needs changing to mohair as the vinyl one gets a bit noisey at over (ahem) 69mph. Still havent fixed the earthing problem and the anti hi-jack system has started locking me in so I have to lean out the drivers window and use the key to unlock the door. Gets a bit embarrasing.

Turning the wheels a deep bronze (think scooby colour) and might get round to fitting the power chip. I've got a ridiculously large amount of subs, amps, mid range, tweeters and cabling in the shed ready to fit, but also considering stripping the whole car for weight reduction and simply going for performance. I'm 50/50 on stupidly quick vs very fast but with comforts in.

Needs a few little bits doing to get throught the MOT but hopefully shouldnt be too bad.

The sponsorship deal I had in place has gone off the table completely now, so I'm not having to turn it Yellow and black so thats good, but the bad side is that deal was paying for me to go on next years scum rally so having to miss out on that unless I can pick up some serious sponsors shortly.

As and when I get round to bits, I'll post them up.

Chris.

hi mate,

i wouldnt bother stripping it out simply because its a cabriolet, i think it will make it look cack with the roof down.

keep the comfort and practicalitly, plus people see it and may think its just a stickerd up car but then it goes like fuck!

You're right. Plus I remembered I'm gonna have 20 stone of taff as co-driver so dropping a few kilo's here and there isn't gonna make up for it.

Quick update as not a lot's going on...

Got a few sponsors linked into the car again, so some sticky stickies going back on at some point.

Well, I've got some new Jamex rear shocks sat waiting to be fitted, and I'm off to pick up some 30mm lowering springs tomorrow afternoon. The 100mm drop is making it way too impractical. I was looking at coilovers and may still go down that route when funds pick up, but I'm skint so they're going to have to wait.

Aside from that, trying to decide what to do with the wheels. Tempted to stick with the alloys I have (15's) but a change to bronze, or go for a set of (if I can find some cheapies) 17" white or bronze multispokes.

Another thing thats been bugging me that I intend to sort out is the colour of the dash clocks / heater control surround and the long centre mount (handbrake/gearstick bit) At the mo, the dash bit is black and the console is blue and apart from the cards, the inside looks a little poop. Tempting to do a purple / white paint job. Again, the sunvisors could do with a splash of clour as well.

I'll post pics when I get round to bits or decide what I'm doing.

Just joined this group today after buying myself an Escort Cabriolet as I missed my old one so much and to my surprise to find that here is my old one. I owned this car (Betty) for 5 years and sold her in 2005 when my son was born. So pleased to see her again. I remembered the plate.....GGGGGRRRRRHHHH!!!!
