LeeMcCarthy
if there is a slight gap is it something that could be sorted by adjusting the roof handles
allblue
When the cog was changed, was the system bled with oil properly? Could be a bit of air in the system perhaps?
Guest wilkiebabe
Hi Escort is a P reg, we had car for a year or so and roof wasnt working when we brought it so we just kept pushing it up and down. Brought the cog kit and just before we fitted it started having problems with the roof not shutting fully getting stuck half way and having to really pull it to get it closed. then changed cogs but roof would still not close properly. If need to bled system how do we do it
Guest Lee81
If the roof wont close manually all the way with the valve open on the pump then there is only a few possible causes. There could be a fault of some sort in the rams. i.e detachached piston end or seized. The roof frame is broken or something is obstructing it. Most likly cause. I would disconnect the rams from the hood and test operation by hand. Following that lower all windows to rule out that as the cause. They have adjustable limits. Next is to remove sections of the inner hood to inspect mechanism and frame for obstructions or damage.

welshlad
just undo the valve on the pump and try and close it manually or adjust the hooks that is unless you have already sorted it out
