Guest s11pyk
going back 10 years here, but when we passed our tests my mate was lucky enough to get a mk4 cab for his first car. it was a well modded D reg, looked cool in its day with rst kit, tiger stripes etc. anyway, it had 2 12" subs on the parcel shelf. sounded awesome when the roof was up, not so good when down but still ok. now iv got one and looking at the shelf, its metal? is it safe to cut large holes in this or were we cruising around in a death trap? i want some bass in my cab but dont know how to go about it. right now only the crackle masters on the passenger side work so i think it needs a new system wiring in! gingergman
i defo would not cut the shelf, theres a lot of strenth in it and as you said, it would only sound good with the roof up, just put a couple of 12s in the boot, i use to and it was plenty of bass without buggering the car
Guest DEG
got all four speakers working, drivers side weren't wired? need to update all the speakers tho. early 90's pioneers have about had it! would you ever get dacent bass with the roof down regardless of where the subs were? gingergman
it will never be the same as a hard top car for bass but if you get some decent watt ones in the boot its still very good with the roof down.
LeeMcCarthy
Would you cut holes in the door cards to reposition the speakers to get a better sound?
Guest s11pyk
Would you cut holes in the door cards to reposition the speakers to get a better sound? someones already cut bigger holes on the side of the footwells so il be getting bigger ones in there! probably would sound better in a different place
LeeMcCarthy
When I had my last cab I remember that is one of the things I hated, when the roof was down I could hardly hear anything
Guest CABNAP
try this...... get the subs upside down on back shelf ... mark them with pen .... get good size drill bit ... put holes in side the marks you did ... get spacer for subs (use wood make some) and fit subs under .... then with roof up or down...you will get good sound........ Guest wodge
just buy one of those under seat subs and for the record mine sounds pretty damn good regardless of the roofs position
