Guest suffolk04
more info needed, which mk? are we talking heaters, or heated screens?
chaz
Does the temp needle go to normal, if not most probably you have a stuck open thermostat, and the heating will not work.
Guest ajaydohc
mk 5 i think its 1995 1 and we are talking about the actual heater it wont even turn on checked all fuses but not sure wat relay it could be
Guest furryurchin
i have the same problem with mine could it be the heater matrix?
Guest suffolk04
sounds more like a relay/motor problem than a heater matrix problem, someone on here with a mk5 may know, i have a mk4 so think it will be abit different
Guest ajaydohc
well i checked the blower motor 2day and thats working perfect on every speed so could it be a faulty switch
gingergman
does the engine run ok and get up to temp? So i take it the motor is working fine ur just not getting hot air?
Guest ajaydohc
the blower is working i stuck a wire to it to test it but wen u turn the heatting on its like its off notting at all but wen ur driving the hot air blows tru the vents
gingergman
im abit lost with this now lol, so, when on idle with the heater on it blows cold and when your driving with the heater on it blows hot, or it jus trickles through the vents hot with the heater turned off while driving? Â whats the engine doing temp wise? so basicly the heator motor works just no ot air yeah? ginger ppl get confused more easy lol
Guest suffolk04
mine used to do that, be sitting at traffic lights, and heater starts blowning cold, drive and it blows warm, mine was a blocked heater matrix. just disconnect both pipes to matrix from bulkhead, and use a hosepipe and watch the crap come out

Guest mossop1
Hehehe this is very confusing thread if ive read this right you get heat when on the move but the blower only works when you direct feed it with a wire if that is the case i would sujest that the resister that controls the fan speeds is duff hence no blow when you try to switch the fan on i aint got a clue were it is on mk5 if its the same as mk3/4 its on motor.hope i sused it out. Guest animal
spot on buddy thats wat im tryna say haha its like a fuse is gone or something   Had a very simlar problem with my heater as you could feel the hot air with the vents open when driving but no blower working, also the rear heated screen did not work and I found out what the problem was, The Fuse/relay box .. it seams on some of the mk5 models had problems with dry solder joints .. I replaced it with an exact replacement one (same serial number) and hey presto it all works now, yours may have the same problem as i done the same as you and checked the heater blower ect with no joy!
