Guest Haddow
just some pics up of how i got it, the cars currently about 30% stripped ready for paint at the moment, engine will be coming out in summer for a rebuild as well possibly if not in the winter. comments welcome! plans are to get it resprayed in aqua foam - S2 kit fitted, retrim interior to black leather, service and clean the engine and gearbox and new mohair roof fitted this year, next year it will be getting the underneath treated to and new suspension, brakes, polybushes and more added to it once money is available. neil

Guest Haddow
ill get some project pics up shortly mate, its not going anywhere too fast at the moment due to lack of cash because its waiting for the bodyshop to come collect it and ive been sourcing parts for it. ive been speaking to a mate and once she's back from the bodyshop, the interior is on hold as we're going to fit up a 2.0 blacktop zetec into her and then concentrate on supension and braking setups and upgrades. interior can wait for a little while to get done i feel as the half leather isnt too bad at the moment really. rather have it running sweet and able to hold its on when needed if the time even comes on a tight road or needing to brake heavily. Guest Haddow
to be fair i would rather have the body sorted before the rust gets worse mate. rather catch the rust while its only surface rust if u get me, then the interior sorted. i would do the engine swap first as i dont want to get suspension etc sorted then the extra weight of the engine fecks my setups done. the car wont be on the road until im 100% happy with it, and its tucked up in a garage so not as if it will be going anywhere anyways lol. will just be a standard 2.0 unit for now, maybe replacement filter and iridium sparkplugs at most until things change then i might get some head work done, cams and a new engine management to suit. be looking once ive finished with the car entirely to be knocking on the door of 180-200bhp which in my view is as far as you really want to take a car like this for its power level on a daily usage rate. Guest Haddow
meant to say interior after engine, been a hectic night here bidding like mad and buying on passionford lol. just bidded on a full Escort RS Turbo setup tonight everything u need to convert to an RS, so heres hoping i get it and saves me some cash, run this for a wee while on the car for some turbo fun until the winter and then gives me time to just work on the zetec out of the car! Escort Cabriolet Club
The Black Top has less Power, go for a SILVER Top, the 2.0 Silver top is 136 BHP, the Si 1.8 Silver Top Zetec is 130 BHP !!!
Guest Haddow
its trying to find them mate up here, silvertops are bloomin hard to find up here in 2.0 form, only the 1800's seem to be around up here, looks like ill be searching like mad then! lol
Escort Cabriolet Club
The 130 1.8 is much better IMO !!!
Guest Haddow
well its decided! just went and bought a polished stage 2 head and Piper ultimate fast road cam for high boost applications for boost levels over 14lbs+ boost! now all i need to decide is wether to use the 1.8 or 2.0 zetec bottom end now and then get everything bought and sorted! Escort Cabriolet Club
Just have a good search on-line or on Yell.com for breakers in Scotland mate !!!
Guest Haddow
no need mate the breakers i deal with is full of mondeo's! im going to phone Karl Norris tomorrow and then Simon Smail (Norris Motorsports & Si-Tech Racing respectively) and then see what each one recommends and price wise for the build..... i know for a fact that the cvh head will be used, but wether they recommend the cvh bottom end or zetec bottom end will make me decide on what to go for. ive heard different stories on what engine revs higher with the torque and peak horsepower so after a long discussion with both tuners then the decision will be made what spec, engine etc to go for, but the head is a worthwhile investment as the cam alone is 300 and i got the entire thing for 100 plus a spare head from a mate so 3 heads i can use now in case things go wrong! Guest Haddow
thanks mate, good to know what to go for now anyway! as said though a long discussion with simon and karl will be sorted with first, and also a nice visit to MI coachworks where i send all my stuff and tell mike to hurry the hell up with these bloomin renaults, he's hired another painter and myself and billy will be working on monday to get his Renault 11 and 9 turbo's running, and also sort a 406HDi he's MOT'ing out so we should get there by at least the end of the month some progress anyways! paint and materials are ordered now, just need to square mike up with them and then get the car painted! then pay the man for it all and ill get her home again. might get him to take the block out for me as it wont be needed with a low comp bottom end replacing it. Guest Haddow
right just an update to say fook all has progressed so far - the cars sat in the lockup at the house still, and im still waiting on mike getting his ass in gear to get these renaults out the way from resto, so hopefully down there next month, and will be painted and sorted by end of june and just need its new engine dropped in.... my one's coming out in the next couple of weeks and will have a new owner hopefully by then, and then its all go for the new engine to get slotted in once its been serviced and rebuilt
