Windscreen - Gaskets? Moldings?

My 84 is missing the entire windscreen. The glass guys are coming Monday to replace the glass in my US 86 GT and will look at the cabriolet while they are here.

Is there any sort of gasket that's supposed to be below or around the glass?

Moldings over the top?

Pix anyone?

Thanks! This is a bigger issue for me than the fact that the block has a hole in it!

Thanks! Do you have a pic? Does it have a channel for the glass?

Is this still available from Ford? I still need a good Ford contact over there if anyone has recommendations. I can reciprocate with US stuff if anyone needs.

The glass place was asking me and I have no idea as mine is missing everything.

Have a look at the pics of mk3/4 cabriolets on this site.

I know the mk4 version of the rubber is now longer available from Ford, so probably suspect the mk3 one is also.

But there are aftermarket versions available.

Try these guys: They have websites for you to contact them via:

FordpartsUK - they are a Ford dealer and specialise in obsolete stock.

Also you can try AutoGlass here in the UK. They should be able to supply you with the windscreen rubber trim.

The glass fits in the channels in the rubber trim, and the rope method is used to resecure it back into car. Very straightforward compared to the bonded screens on modern cars.

Thanks so much! My US-spec is held in with a sealer and I think the earlier ones are as well.

We did hold up the new one to the cabby and it's not even close enough to make it work. He took measurements and asked me to get part numbers.

I can get the Ford number - how many aftermarket windshield companies are there over there? He's hoping they can cross reference something.

I have the gasket! I wish I'd realized that when he was here, but I just put 2 & 2 together. I was typing this and realized I saw a weatherstrip tucked in the truck and sure enough, it's the windshield gasket. I never would've guessed it before now.

So I just need to research part numbers
