Ok so I have a 1990 1.6 Efi I seem to have oil or something in my water tank but when I checked my oil it's not milky! Does this sound like my head gasket is going or something else ? I'm not very good at this as much as I love cars I'm a woman just starting so I have my Haynes and a few tools. Should I just take her to a garage?

Few other things to check;

Is the car running hot?

Is it using coolant, are you having to top it up?

Once warm, is there any white smoke from the exhaust?

Is there 'mayoniasse' under the oil filler cap?

Look at the oil on the dipstick, is it more like chocolate than oil?

Sorry if this sounds more like a recipe than car advice. If the answer is yes to any of these, a visit to the workshop may prevent further, more expensive damage.

Good luck,

Andy

Try steel seal it reckons it can repair head gasket problems in minuets, never tried it myself as changing a head gasket on the cvh is easy :smile: but id def like to try it to see if its really that good
