Bluexr3ilee
Hi all, I have a G reg xr3i efi and have now been offered a fiesta turbo efi engine. Now I am very new to this and understand that I'll need various item to complete the transplant but I'm now stuck with reagrds to the ecu and wiring. The current owner of the engine is running a ofab ecu, so i take it ill need one of those or can it run my current ecu? Now about the wiring loom. Can I use the current wiring loom or do I need to change it? Plus would it need to be from a escort turbo or can I use a fiesta loom? Look forward to your answers. Thanks in advance. escortrs2000.co.uk
As I said earlier in another thread, it depends how much power you're looking to run. To make it nice and simple and if you only want up to 200BHP ish then get an OFAC ECU. Then all you'll need is: OFAC ECU OFAC MAP sensor (Part Number: V90FB 9F479 AA) Fiesta RS Turbo engine Fiesta RS Turbo ACT Sensor (should be on the inlet manifold of the above) Fiesta RST T2 Turbo Exhaust System And you're off! Everything else is already on your XR3i There should be no changes to a late XR3i EFi loom (like mine) to run OFAC. With some earlier EFi looms you will need to check the that the CO signal wire goes to pin 27 of the ECU and the MAP signal wire goes to pin 45 of the ECU. Other than that you're golden. Bluexr3ilee
Excellent, cheers for the info. The engine has 701 beige injectors and has 183bhp (dyno to prove) and I have a stage 2 t3 turbo, I think it has a .48 housing. So I take it I'd need a ofab ecu. escortrs2000.co.uk
The only reason you'd need to use OFAB is to run more than 1 BAR of boost. I'm going to say at that spec with 183BHP it was only running 1 BAR max, or it was badly set up. Don't forget, to run the 701's and more than 10 Psi of boost you will also need a "Stage 2" or "195" chip. Lee
Bluexr3ilee
Thanks for the info, I have spoken to the fella with the engine and he said he only ran 1 bar ( very rarely went above) it has 701's and I have the ofab ecu and 195 superchip. The only thing we couldn't work out and I'm still scratching my head ( might be the reason of lack of hair Hahaha) on weather I need to run a bigger fuel pump or will the original be okay. escortrs2000.co.uk
Sounds like you've got it all covered. Anything much above stage 1 (165 spec) where an EFi XR3i is used as a base, you'll need an uprated pump. I believe there are pumps that are direct fit like the Escort Cossie pump (Don't quote me on that!) That's the one bonus of using an MFi XR3i as a base, the pump is more than capable of handling it!
