Guest xr3idan
hi all, after my mk4 xr3i going straight through an mot ive noticed my drivers side floor front and back but more front than back is soaked, i just wondered where to start looking for the problem? i know that my window has come off the runners in that door but the window still seems to fit snug against the roof. infact when i close the door i still have to push the window in so that it seals against the roof rubber. any ideas would be appricated thanks dan. Vincygav
It could be leaking through the window top seal, do you also have a wet seat. If not try clearing the drain channels from the sill by sticking something like a pipe cleaner size, but stiffer material like a coat hanger. Also remove the front inner wing liners and clear the mud stored up behind. Edited October 31, 2013 by Escort Si-

Vincygav
You could get your swimming trunks out, lol Try checking the roof window seal rubbers when you shut the door at the top.
Guest xr3idan
swimming trunks seem a good idea thb lol when i shut the drivers door the window sticks out and i then have 2 push it in and under the roof seal. saturday im gonna get a friend to pour water over drivers side of the roof and over door and seals while i play detective to give me more of an insight as to where its coming from so i can choose an appropriate plan of action lol

Guest Bianca.08.t.92
Hii I had this problem and i found out that bcos my battery tray was rusting and along that part of the engine there was a small hole in the metal and that was how loads of water was getting into the car. As my windows are sealed tight and nothing could come in that way i was so confused. Hope it helps

Guest xr3idan
sounds like a silly question but how many of you have had water coming in from the triangle piece at the top of the door where it meets the roof?? and how good is storm sure???? Guest suffolk04
I've got the same problem, can see it running down the A pillar, gathering at the bottom and leaking inside, thought it was door rubber seal, so changed that put vaseline everywhere, but still gets in. Guest suffolk04
Are there any decent pictures of how the water chanels should look on a mk4? I've seen the mk5 picture floating about on the net, but that's leaking onto the seat and not down the a pillar to the floor
Vincygav
I put tigerseal PU sealant onto the triangular blocks so no water seeps back. Vaseline wont do anything. Guest suffolk04
not sure which part you mean, one part is plugged up already, but wouldnt this cause water to leak on the seat rather than near the speaker/floor? this is where the water gathers/drips to
Guest suffolk04
and looks like its coming from this part, but dont know if sealing it will help i noticed this seal on the outer a pillar is split, dont know how much or if this would cause it, and dont know what to ask for when people on ebay are breaking them

maido
be a nightmare to take that bit off.. ive never known them to need changing to be honest... unless im looking at wrong bit lol, could be the seal that runs along top of windscreen and screws down on each end or the door seals Edited March 26, 2014 by maido
Guest suffolk04
Think your right with it looking hard to get off. Looks like its clipped on somehow. Is that seal your talking about common to go? It's just the drivers side that leaks
maido
wouldnt like to say 100% but the cabs have the common problem of leaking at the top of the pillars so the windscreen one along the top might help
