Fusebox, Wiring And Heated Windscreen Retrofit.

I had an interesting conversation with Richard at Catford Ford Spares today. I told him i was going to retrofit a heated windscreen into my Mk6 P reg 1800 Ghia cabby, and had got the wiring loom off ebay..

He told me that unless i had the right fusebox not to bother as some fuseboxes didn't have the right connections - he said not to try and swap it as that might bugger the rest of the wiring!

Could anyone tell me what reference number I should have on the fusebox and if they have successfully retrofitted a heated w/s in a similar age and spec car.

Cheers

Nigel

Also need a relay, which ford don't sell anymore, but I've got 2 here, also you can wire in some heated washer jets from a mondeo mk1/2 which also plugs into the screen loom

Loom connects into the black fuse box in front of battery,it will only go into 1 slot and a 50 amp fuse will be needed aswell

Thank you gentlemen. Sifitz - I don't suppose you took any photos while you were doing it?

I've got the relay, and two groups of wiring - behind the dashboard and the engine bay bit. I'll take some pics and post them up because I've got far more wires than they show in the wiring diagram!

Thanks

Nigel

This is the wiring I recieved from the seller.

There is obviously one lot for behind the dash - which i don't need, and the bit with relay for under the bonnet, but what concerns me is that it's attached to other stuff.

Hi

the big relay goes behind the battery. It attaches to the black grid behind the battery. You need to remove the windscreen scuttle first thou.

Also, regards to the grey main connector for the hfs loom, check the colouring of the wires matches at both ends. The HFS loom itself and that of the cars existing wiring.

Thanks Allblue - I didn't want to force it and break it, but how does the big grey connector come off the mounting?

This is all getting quite exciting - I'm also about to order a Piper exhaust system to make the brum even brummier...
