Guest theyorkshireterrier
I have a mk4 and mk5, in even light rain the roof leaks something shocking. The mk5 is noticeably worse though. The roof itself is fine but the rubber seals don't seem to meet where the roof meets the bodywork at the windscreen. There is a noticeable gap. Is this something I have to live with or do I have a problem?

Guest theyorkshireterrier
Yeah the roof itself is ok. It's just the rubber seals at the top of the windows
Guest snoopaloopa
Mines exactly the same, cant seem to get it sorted, everytime it rains both doors leak where the roof meets,it seems to be that the roof should overlap the windows lower but i cant sort it out! It runs off the little rubber flap then under the window seal and drips onto the seat.
gingergman
you can ajust the windows to stop higher up therefore they close into the rubber better.

Guest tbirdbooboo
i have a mk3 and you cant adjust the windows at all on these. one thing to check is the black plastic triangle bits at the top of the windows - between main front window and the front quaterlight. these stop the glass from going up too far. i temporarily filled the top 1cm of the bit where the glass travels up with a silocone sort of stuff so it would harden . this will make the glass stop before it goes too far up . will get new trim when i get the chance next one is to remember the doors are pillarless and i noticed when i had the door open sat with friends chattin , you find someone leaning on the door. so... we lifted the door up whist open and this sorted out the angle of the door and made it better. also - the trim above the windscreen gathers water then routs it to the door seal rubbers . my door rubbers were shot and and someone had played with silicon and bloacked the channels up . take it all off , clean it a treat then refit it . when refitting the top trim above the windscreen we used a sealer too so it was a real good fit. also re made a channel with sealer as somone had just pumped loads here and there. its a lot neater now and hardely ever leaks another idea is the sealeng spray for things like tents , you should be able to get it in camping shops. i plastered the crap out of my roof last week just to be safe as it sometimes still leakes on the passenger side. this stuff is cool. it rained like hell the other day and i stayed dry ! they these ideas and see how you fair. iansoutham
i have a mk3 and you cant adjust the windows at all on these. Yes you can. You take the doorcards off and there are 2 10mm bolts in concentric washers which you move to adjust the glassat the front and back edges. If you do it with the glass all the way up, they will not move. You need to lower the glass slightly and then adjust, move the window and check. It is a bit of trial and error, but that is how you do it.
