Guest Matthew Davenport
Time to post a few pics of my cab. Depite the efforts of its previous owner and his tub of filler, its going in for a respray on friday. After toying with the idea of going for frozen white, i have decided to stay with the original diamond white. Apart from the filler and some superficial rust, the rest of the body is tip top. all the people who have looked at the car during its service and respray quotes have commented on what great shape she is in. i am in the process of stripping the inside for a good cleaning. the ridiculous spoiler has now been removed - took great pleasure in that last night!. I have got hold of an rs spoiler, and also the rs turbo body kit, so these will be going on as well. the white dash surround will be replaced, and i have bought some new carello 640 spots as the originals were corroded. just a couple of quick questions if I may. i have no fixings for the spolier and kit. Will it be ok just to bond them on? Also, i have been told that the body mouldings(side strips) will come off during the respray, and will probably be too warped so will need replacing. Do i really need them? - i have seen some cabs without them and they look fine. Johns all-white cab is one example. heres the pics. any comments or advice greatfully received! gingergman
i reckon your best off using a fixing kit for the spoiler aswell as the bonding stuff. and yeah the side strips will proberly go out of shape and bend when removed, thers no need for them if you dont want them, not many have them now to honest, if you dont put them back on then put them on ebay, should get about 20 quid at the least for them. Guest Matthew Davenport
cheers mate. is this the right fixing kit? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-GENUINE-FORD-ESCORT-RS-REAR-SPOLER-FIXING-KIT-/290530033089 cant seem to find the fixings for the body kit anywhere. according the the RS forums, they are a mixture of rivets and bolts. may be best just bonding the body kit? gingergman
the body kit skirts use a plastic strip, most people just bond them on, the strips can be a pain to get hold of. il look at the ebay link later, ebay dont work on schools computers lol
