That looks very much like an australian market 'Bakkie'. If it is then it's extremely rare over here.

Or it could be a very well executed conversion.

it is a real manufactured pickup and is a backie or its real name is a bantam but south african, australia never made em, and your rite they are extreamly rare...i am lucky i have two of em although the other is in pretty poor condition just now

Australia, Africa, close enough!

I beleive they were either based on or converted from the van, hence the leaf sprung rear axle, but can't say for sure. That one looks very tidy, how do you rate it? Is it quite good or do you just keep it for novelty value?

I'd quite like an old Cortina based P100.

they are a funny old thing, if they was a van they would have a higher roof if an estate then they wouldnt have the quater windows so they are one on their own.. also as i have found out restoring the other one, i tried to fit sills and they wont fit off any escort van or car as the wheel base is 6inch longer on the pickup.

I stand corrected! (that's certainly not for the first time!)

Have you posted any pics of it up on the Retro-Rides board? I reckon they'd love it!

What's going on with the front of the sill in that shot? A jacking accident? Sill seems to ride and the door gap disapears.

It's pretty cool as is. Lowering could work but it might put it on the cusp of turning into something a bit naff. Which is odd, I think I'm maybe seeing too many lowered euro-look caddys around. Perhaps it's starting to turn into another naff life style thing.

Actualy, that picture is showing an awfull lot! These kind of photos are often more interesting than the completed vehicle as it shows how they're put together and where any differences may lie. It also shows just how much work you are putting into it. Nice one.

Now go and look at my thread (it's just below yours) and tell me how great my car looks!
