Guest Wilsonpa
Hi all. I am driving to Paris in 3 weeks for a friend's wedding and thought that after the celebrations I would just take off and follow the sun for 2 months. I know France well and depending on the weather, may get to Italy. I thought you may find some of preparations of interest. I bought 2 Euro GB numberplate stickers (the narrow blue ones that go on the left of the plate)for £1.49 post free from Ebay "nickschof". I got headlight converters also from Ebay for £4.25 post free from "adrian3994". The last thing I wanted was a windstop but they are too expensive for me so I sourced the right mesh from US and have made one. It works fine and cost less than £40. I will report back after the trip if all went well. Wilsonpa

Guest Wilsonpa
Hi everybody. Stayed in France for a month mainly with friends and it was like going home ! My home made windstop works very well and I can drive at legal limits with roof down comfortably. Drove from Paris to Dunkirk and then Dover to Stafford next day with no roof. The car generated a lot of interest in France when the roof was down with passers by stopping to look. Felt good especially when I was stopped by the gendarms who asked for my driving license and then spent the next 5 mins chatting about the cabby ! Some pics in my album "Windstop". By the way, Dunkirk to Dover with DFDS (old Norfolk Line) is 2/3rds price of P & O Dover to Calais and it's very near to Adinkerke in Belgium for duty free. Also, at present, petrol is cheaper in UK than France but not diesel.
Guest Savage
I'll agree with that. We used DFDS last month and saved a fortune. Don't change your money on their boat though is my tip - exchange rate with them was 1:1 plus commission charges.
