Guest Charlie 5
If i tip the rear seat back forwards on Mk3 there are what look like two retaining straps hanging there.... They dont seem to have any purpose whatsoever? Any ideas?

Guest Lee81
Not sure which straps you mean. Theres one strap that operates a lever to put the seat base forwards. Two straps from around the seat belt attachments that go threw the seat to hold the seat belt clip upright( mainly on tin tops ) The only other two straps are for the centre lap belt which some people cut and chuck under the seat base as they look a mess when on the seat. I have heard that some early MK3 came without a centre lap belt on the cabs but dunno if this is true.
Guest lukenemma
are you talking about the loop strap's that hang down cos there for skies so you can put them through and still change gear

Guest corrie
ok guys these straps are definately for the hood cover for when the hood is down and the back seats have been dropped. i think it was a suggestion earlier in the post but i can confirm that is what they are for as the hood cover would flap in the wind if the back seat was dropped for longer loads or if you had a nice big sub woofer it wouldnt be so quiet.
