Guest corrie
ok there is a tiny bit of rust coming from rond and under the fuel filler cap on my mk5 (common problem i know) but it is not really that bad that it warrants a new panel in yet as its under control, so here is my thinking and i want comments on it please. im thinking about one of those dimma style covers for the cap and arround it. im not too sure myself as i have not really liked them in the past as they look a bit naff. but it might be a solution to a little bit of blister or do you think i should just keep cleaning the rust spots with tcut and put up with it until it gets so bad il cut it out and replace with new panel. also has anyone put small spot lights on the front like the mk3 and mk4 or will that look stupid on it? gingergman
i wouldnt put a cap over it, in my opinion they look tatty, might be best to sort the blister out now, will be easya and cheaper than if it rots through. but as you say, polish will help it last that bit longer
Guest Lee81
Sort the blister now. Once its come through it will hold water and get worse quickly.

Guest corrie
its not that bad yet john but its not worth a new panel yet and it isnt holed but it just keeps blistering but tcut keeps the stain away for now but hopefully a few grand is coming my way this year so over the winter i might have a new panel fitted and a fresh coat of paint on the car for shows.
