Guest gavwithcab Posted November 6, 2010 Share Posted November 6, 2010 can any one help me, for sum reason starter motor wont turn engine over on my cab, it just clicks once, like it would if batt was flat, it bumps fine, and to make things worse when i put heaters on when the car is running it sends the rev counter wappy and flys all over the place , the thing is last week i fitted a new clutch and wonder if i could have messed wiring up sum how on the starter, but yet it started up when when clutch was fitted and the wires all look fine..... any help will be brill Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Guest gavwithcab Posted November 6, 2010 Share Posted November 6, 2010 thanks, think it may be a dodgy earth then. yeaterday i undid all the wires , cleaned all the ends up with wire brush and then it started,i then went shopping.... went back to the car and same agian, it just clicked at me and would not turn over. Chris Posted November 7, 2010 Share Posted November 7, 2010 Is the blue wire still in 1 piece?.. do you have a batery light when you turn the ignition on?..Id Check battery terminals for tightness, blue wire to sarter as this is the live power feed.. as sounds like its not getting a charge and the engines running of the battery Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Guest gavwithcab Posted November 7, 2010 Share Posted November 7, 2010 sussed it. the terminal on starter motor where the thick red wire connects is lose.it is fully tightend but the terminal itsself wobbles, if i pull on the wire just a little it starts. a m8t has a spare engine with one on so i should be able to swipe it.only prob is his is a mfi engine and mine is efi in my mk5, will it fit? thanks for your help Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Guest gavwithcab Posted November 11, 2010 Share Posted November 11, 2010 all done now, i just put a washer between them cleaned the earths up and its fine now,it was just strange how the rev counter was going mad aswell. and guess what, i have now developed a water leak from the water pump gasket.lol. i was planing on changing timing belt anyway.
