hi can anyone tell me if a mk4 ignition barrel an petrol cap fit a mk3 any help would be greatful many thanks

petrol cap yes, ignition im not too sure, think it should but il let someone else confirm

The cap barrel will fit into a MK4 cap which will fit into the original aperture, but the ignition barrel will not. The physical outer diameter is the same, but the location settings are completely different.

 

You would need to accurately CNC machine the inner lock housing where the barrel sits to make it work. I have had a one done for a project I am involved with, but it is quite involved and fiddly due to the construction of the alloy casing.

 

Remember as well, if fitting MK4 door locks to a MK3 car, the barrels will work the opposite way round, unless you modify the door lock holes accordingly. By "work the other way round", I mean that on a MK4, any key will lock the car, only the right one will open it. If you put MK4 door barrels into a MK3 with out the mod, then any key will open the doors, but only your one will lock it.

 

Been there, done all this, and am doing it all on this MK3 S1 so it looks factory.
