Guest s11pyk Posted April 25, 2010 Share Posted April 25, 2010 so im looking to do the lifters in my mk4 cos it sounds like a bucket os spanners! is this an easy job? what exactly is involved and should i be doing the cam too as iv had differing opinions given about this? does the cambelt need doing at the same time? if the cambelt is done should i do the water pump too? payday on friday and im getting the cab done! period! Guest Lee81 Posted April 26, 2010 Share Posted April 26, 2010 If you going to do all this work might be worth buying a cam kit from the likes of piper or kent. Will have all the bits you need. Bit of extra power and you won't have to source all the bits separately. Might actually work out less money than getting them all separate. Guest KarlosG Posted April 28, 2010 Share Posted April 28, 2010 (edited) You need to change the cam at the same time mate... The lifters and cam work harden for the first 20mins or so of running, so if you fit old with new the old will rip the new apart (at leat there is a very good chance!!), once fitted when you first start the car make sure you hold the revs around 2500rpm for 20mins to allow this process to take place.
