Guest kevindent
YOU WILL NEED TO ROLL ARCHES MATE OR THEY WILL RUB LIKE A B**CH
Guest diggy
i have 17" alloys on mine and did not need to adapt anything. my wheels are a multifit so they went straight on but would advise against lowering the car with these on
Guest Lee81
If depends what cab you have. MK3/4 on standard suspension not much though you will get arch rubbing if car is loaded up. If its lowered you will need to roll the archs. Would be better if you had a narrower tyre on the rim eg. 195/40/17. The MK5/6 should be problem free unless the car is lowered alot
Guest vinnyvangough
My mk3 has 205/40/17 on standard suspension and is fine loaded
Guest steelcabby
seems to be alot of mixed anwsers here...lol. if your using the right wheels for the car with the right offset you will get 17"'s on the car with a 35mm drop on either a full G-MAX suspension kit or coilovers. mine was riding on 17" 205-40-17 tyres and a full G-MAX 35mm kit with no rubbing even when it was fully loaded oh and the arches where mint and never rolled as i hate rolling arches. bodges the car IMO Edited April 14, 2010 by steelcabby
Guest wodge
mine is lowered on 17's and sed to rub with just me in.....arches rolled = no more rubbing
Guest steelcabby
mine is lowered on 17's and sed to rub with just me in.....arches rolled = no more rubbing looks like you have a 60mm drop on that tho?? thats loads lower than mine was

LeeMcCarthy
Am I just being thick but what does rolling the archs consist of?
Guest vinnyvangough
Well my MK3 is standard ride height and i have just tried 215/45/17 on the front and they are no good. They rub. Whereas the previous 205/40/17 were fine
Guest diggy
i have 17" with 205/40/17 tyres on with a standard ride height standard shock and spring set up and have not had any problems
Guest vinnyvangough
Right, well put the 215/45/17 on the rear and they rub too. So 205/40/17 are the biggest you can go
gingergman
205/40/17 is the biggest you can go with lowering 30-40mm, any bigger or any lower it will cause problems
Guest vinnyvangough
Well just ordered up a set of 4 Toyo Proxes T1R's for my Compomotive MO's in 15". Wont have to worry about rubbing now
gingergman
15s give a much better ride, just dont look as good imo, still, im rolling on 15s
Guest wodge
Am I just being thick but what does rolling the archs consist of? basically the metal lip of the arch gets bent upwards into the arch to create more space for the wheel.
Guest vinnyvangough
15s give a much better ride, just dont look as good imo, still, im rolling on 15s True, but when the 15's are Compomotive MO 1561's, they will look better than good
Guest steelcabby
you can't go any wider than 205 as iirc they catch the shock. but it depends on the offset you have. but then if you have the right offset and you were rolling with 215's then you'd need wider arches to cover the wheels sticking out the arches. you can get 17's on with the escort offset. on standard shocks too. but when fully loaded or cornering hard they will roll and rub somewhere garanteed. so uprated shocks and springs like G-MAX 35mm sports suspension... or coilovers and you will get a firm ride with 17's that don't rub. and don't need the arches rolling for.. hope that helps peeps Edited April 20, 2010 by steelcabby
