Guest wiser
Hi, Can anyone help, or direct me to a thread that does already? Whilst at Sainsbury's this morning I decided to put the rood down. It made a louder noise than usuall and, to much embarrasment, it got stuck about half way. Pressing open or closed did nothing. I fully opened it manually. When I got home, I tried to close it with the motor. Again it got stuck about half way. I opened and closed it several times manually. Then tried to use the motor with no greater success. In fact sometimes it would only move an inch or two. It seems to have fluid (perhaps too much but I have never filled it). It did not get stuck on any thing. Any ideas would be gratefull received. Chris
Sounds like your pump drive cog has started to loose some teeth..

Guest wiser
Hi All, Thanks for the replies, due to the weather and other business, I've not had chance to look at it till today. I'm not sure it is the cogs. THere is a click when you press the button, but no evidence of the motor spinning at all. Would I still hear the whirring noise if the cog was broken? Could it be an earth problem? Would the modification to the switch by attaching a wire to a good earth work? If so where would be a good earth point? Also, where can I get the hydraulic fluid. Ford no longer stock it or even recognise it on their computer. I'm not keen to use brake fluid due to its corrosive properties. Many thanks Wiser
Guest charlie74
try audi/bmw for fluid as they still have quite a large cabriolet range,
Guest monkeyboysee
hi, don't know if this is still relevant but i'll throw in my hat... i had trhe same thing earler this year. i started it up after it being garaged over the winter, started first time but the roof would only open half way, and then a bit intermittent. I left the car running all day thinking it may be the battery, worked a treat, closed and opened fine. maybe a fault on your battery system?
