Guest cooldad175
Hi everyone I bought the gizmo for fitting a new cog to the motor but I lost the instruction leaflet and in it it tells you the correct type of fluid to use when topping up and the best place to buy the fluid. Perhaps the moderator of this site could help us out and also I wonder if he could let me have the instruction leaflet as well. allblue
Would NOT recommend using brake fluid,if anyone is attempting this. It may work, but brake fluid is corrosive unlike the mineral oil that the pump actually requires. Not sure what damage this could cause to the internal plastic componments of the system over time. Also if the stuff leaks it will eat away your paint. Not too mention potential hazards with regards to future changes to the hydraulic system, as brake fluid is highly toxic. Pop down to your VW or Ford dealer and ask for the correct fluid for the pump, should set you back no more than a tenner.
