ianxr3i
how can ya tell its a 1.4? are there any key features that give it away? also what is the red thing on the right The only CVH Engine that got put in the MK5's was a 1.4 then the 1.6 engine was a baby zetec The red thing to the right is an alarm, possibly a scorpion alarm unit Edited November 19, 2008 by ianxr3i

Guest Cabbytech
Its deffo the 1.4 CVH SPI engine, the pipe hanging down from the little black box on the right of the engine needs to be left as it is, its part of the poor breather system ford tried on this engine for a short period of time, the most annoying problem this type of engine suffers from is over revving briefly when deaccelerating and coming to a stop at traffic, this is usually tied into the speed sensor, the silver pipe running below the spark plugs goes into a little circular unit that always splits apart. What is the problm with yours ? The red thing on the right is an after market alarm system. Edited November 20, 2008 by Cabbytech

AND now the battery is not holding its charge for more than 2 days. i have replaced the altinator and the battery is new. im goin to check the wires that come from the altanator but could it be anythin else? thanks for all the help xx

Guest Cabbytech
This type of problem is not always easy to find, there could be some crossed vacuum pipes somewhere, or one might have a pinhole in it, you might be best taking it in to your ford dealership to get it sorted.. That pipe coming off the bottom needs leaving as it is.
