Okay Benny's Got A Problem

my drivers side inner wing has a hole init!!!! how can i fix it with out takin of the wing! i need a pernamnet fix, if i take of the wing i have to remove the molded in body kit! which will be bad! im wondering if the car might have to go?

is the hole rust ? if it is ur better of replacing the wing because it will inly re apear eventualy and if i put filler on it it will either crack ore fall out

if i have to remove the outa wing, i might as well throw the car away for what it'll cost to repair, i'll need a whole new body kit! i new inner wing, sprayed, etcetcetc booooo hooooo :icon_cry:

its been gettin worse are we thinkin cut it out and plate it from the tyre side with the tyre off? there is some good metal around it kinda, been thinking about stripin it and stickin at all in an xr2 if i can find a good en? but thats last resort

yeah i know its just the cost involved, it needs to be welded without removin the front wing, the kit will have to come off, and its been moulded in by previous owner, so it will then need a full respray plus new body kit, gonna get out the sandblaster tomorrow and see whats what but its not lookin good!

mine was the same mate on both sides but i replaced both mi front wings ne way but its not hard and it will look alot better i would think that will be a mot failure ne way with it benn so close to the strut but might be wrong mate

okay so this is where im upto, with a bit of hammering and sanding this is how it looks, but cos i had a hammer i banged somewhere else as you do and found this other beauty lol oh god!

and that doesnt look to good, but gonna try and weld a plate under it, then fill it? see how that works? pmsl! :smile:

Exactly wheres mines rusted but not as bad.

 

guy before me had put a plate in behind and did a crap fill job on the inner wing, this weekend ive just picked all the crap out treated any bare metal and refilled back to the plate , just wanted the inside to look neat.

 

defo weld a plate in though

hi mate looking at pics be a shame to waste a mk 3, maybe buy new inner wing cut out the bit you need this way you have the shape and holes, weld some rods to middle of new piece so you can hold it in place then push through from inner wheel arch side. holding it in place with rods spot weld it in place , as long as your happy with it you can weld all the way round then fill to smoth finish , seen it done with arches new one pushed undernieth and welded in then filled cant see where the seem is.

but it will get smoothed over with some filler, i know its not ideal but for now its m.o.table

all now etch primed and ready for bog haha, the only prob being found another damn hole above where he welded!!! just gonna have to fill that one me thinks and hope for the best, untill i can get some inner wings on the bastood!

Nice one mate, not the best of angles to work at either but great work mate !!! :clap:

 

 

Like you said, it will do for now, can always do a winter strip-down and re-build then get it all resprayed next year, have a word with Brutus mate as i'm sure he will help you get the kit off and then put it back on and re-flush it again !!! :biggrin:
