Fuel Pump Problems

when the cars running theres a smell of fuel from under the car around the tank its not leaking just a smell its not from the exhaust also the fuel pumps buzzing louder than normal you can hear it over the engine from 6 foot away from the car any ideas?

My cabs fuel pump is making the same noise I`ve just ordered one from my nearest bullseye motor shop cost me £97

Funny thing is halfrauds wanted more for an inferior fuel pump to the one I`m getting so stay clear.

 

Here`s the amazing thing after speaking to a close friend who works at my local ford dealer after looking she told me it could be the original :wow:

she found a code on it somewhere???? if this is true it`s nearly 20

I have mentioned this before on here as this question been asked

a few times before.

 

When I bought my cab my fuel pump buzzed real loud and also you

could hear with engine running from 6 ft away but it kept on working

for about a year with the odd misfire and the odd non starting when hot.

 

When I came to replace it the ford dealer wanted 120 Malta pounds,

and through my mate who is a mechanic got the same spec pump

from Germany for 45 Malta pounds including postage.

 

When we replaced it he reckoned it was also the original pump

and now you can just hear a very low buzz when its in the garage

you cannot even hear it when its outside, at the same time I also

replaced the fuel filter, this should be replaced at least every other year.

Check the return hose to the tank, I had this problem. After years, it seems to come off slightly from pressure. I took both the supply & return off, and fully push them right in, never had a problem with the fuel smell after that.
