  1. well building engine this year to drop in it but going to get it mot taxed next month just with the standard engine, so i can drive iot to bodyshops and engine places, get it moving for first time in 3 years, and rits really just to keep my no claims bouns alive as this year is last and will lose 7 years. but im in nno rush to build engine need alot of things for it, and money not about for that.
  2. lol thought you might have spotted this, well looks like you had same idea as me for spares. but glad you got it i thought there was going to be another f40 cab on the road! lol there becoming more popular the normal looking cabs.
  3. hi everyone was watching an item on ebay last week, for sale was a full second hand reiger f40 body kit, just couple of questions does the blue one belong to anyone on here stoke area, and who bought it, thank you , this should now be about 5 of these kits in uk.

  6. have things changed with the insurance if its a factory fit alarm then thats all they need to know only if its after market alarm that has been put on the car then you would need to know what model they will have an option on there computer for factory fitted alarm. may be im wrong .
  7. hi if its only the head gasket that went and nothing else wrong with engine then it would be best to fix it, but if the engine is old and knackered then new engine. just price up a head skim at local engine shop and new head gasket set first to give you an idea about how much it will cost then compare that with a recon or second hand engine you'll soon have your answer.
  8. hi mate ok if i was you and you wanted an everyday driveable car id go 1.8 zetec out of escort mk 5 or above rs 200 is a pain in the arse to fit, engine mounts gearbox mounts, the 2.0 zetec again is not straight forward swap , you would also need a 1.8 engine from escort for the sump, flywheel, oil pickup pipe engine mount needs moddifying and change the water pump oil pump belt set up. because the zetec's are efi and yours is mfi you will need to change the wiring loom from dashboard to engine mating the wires together. you say you want a reliable everyday car like tony alwallys told me stay away from turbos expensive need looking after and use alot of fuel. im fitting a 2.0 zetec turbo to my car but its only going to be for shows and weekends not everyday drive. i would get a 1.8 rear damaged escort the 130bhp one. and use it to swap engine and wiring over. i know it all sounds confusing but what ever you decide theres enough people on here that have done these conversions to help you out, good look. ps dont bother with zvh if you going to do that you might as well go the full way and get full zetec.
  9. ok like said in other posts check fluid level in pump, i think it needs to be checked when roof is open. then check wiring to the switch them switches can be a pain not all connectors used on them so maybe a wire on wrong one. relays new bet that was expensive heated front screen relay £26.
  10. ok 2 things if its height you want to adjust, that will be on the suspension strut under wheel arch should have thread on strut, if its the stiffness you want to adjust then as said this is done from in engine bay top of strut should have a tool to screw the top.
  11. i know it sounds stupid and doesnt really help but you need to start from plugs and work way back, might be ht leads wrong way round, or somthing like the crank sensor wire not connected. what engine have you fitted was it straight swap or have you gone up in size.?

    Alarm

    hi mate ive got it fitted to my cab part of clifford alarm smart start system, this is great for cold early morning starts, sit in house let car warm up and windows de frost, spent many hours at shows laughing as you start it and scare people who are looking to close and children having picture taken in front of it then engine starts! kids run. lol. ok bad points it not as easy as wake up look out window its dam cold, start the car! you need to set it before you turn ignition off, then get out arm alarm and its ready to start, safty feature it has micro switch on gear leavers wont turn on if left in gear. although when you start it the alarm stays on and doors locked, you can get done off police for leaving a car running whist not in it, and your insurance is voild if it was ever taken, im glad ive got it but its not what i thought it would be, you make up your own mind on it. hope this helps mate.
  13. hi mate looking at pics be a shame to waste a mk 3, maybe buy new inner wing cut out the bit you need this way you have the shape and holes, weld some rods to middle of new piece so you can hold it in place then push through from inner wheel arch side. holding it in place with rods spot weld it in place , as long as your happy with it you can weld all the way round then fill to smoth finish , seen it done with arches new one pushed undernieth and welded in then filled cant see where the seem is.

  16. hi never done much with car ice systems before so thought i would start this year, got cheap amp to play with, but what does the gain dial do and where should i have it full ,half. ok and theres a boost switch on or off cant hear any difference . and theres a socket for high gain input what the hell do i put in there. lol. thank you. for your hep.

    ok everyone ive fitted a set of 6inch mids and tweeters in te front kickwells ive made my own pods but not happy with them the way they look and sound so whats every one else got in theres any pics would be nice thank you. moving onto thedoor build next .

RIGHT AFTER A LONG WAIT FOR PARTS AND TIME OF WORK PROBLEM NOW FIXED ALTHOUGH IT WASNT THE FRONT HEATED SCREEN RELAY THAT WAS CAUSING THE PROBLEM THE HEATED SCREEN NOW WORKS, AFTER LOOKING AT THE WIRING DIAGRAMS AGAIN AND TRACING IT BACK I CAME TO FUSE NUMBER 17 THIS IS FOR THE BRAKE LIGHTS AND INSTRUMENT PANEL. ALTHOUGH THE FUSE WAS OK THE WIRING UNDER NEITH WAS NOT BUT NOW FIXED AND RUNNING AGAIN, THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP AND ADVICE SJC.
  19. turn your mixture up slightly, not to much or you will damage internal parts. so that your over fueling.

  21. hi everyone, well few of you read post about my twin head light problem, welll lights sorted but in the process of fixing them ive now got another problem, so please help me , i topught id fixed it but upon driving the car my battery light was dimmerly lit and rev counter never worked so bck in engineby one of the terminals touced the body work and sparked , now i have no rev counter, battery light, hand brake light, fuel gauge, and no rear brake lights. checked all the fuses there fine dont think theres a relay for any of theses, so am now stuck as i cant see any problem , what could the cause be , would a switch burnt out and would that cause everything to stop working. please please help me as im stuck for ideas where to start looking, and carnt drive it with out brake lights please help. thank you. :icon_salut_gb:
