wots the best to fit in excisting houseing

Well, it all depends.. what size is the existing housing?

Are you running them from an amp or just on their own off the head unit?

Is it an uprated headunit?

What sort of music do you listen to? a wide range? bassy stuff?

auto leads sell the conversoin plates, and they simple enough to change, just screw them into the origional speaker mountings and then screw the bigger speaker in on top.

origional speaker hole

put these on

like this

and then add this

right.. ok.. so we are talking plain 10cm speakers then?

using an amp to power them or just the headunit? and is it an upgraded headunit?

(also @ markyboy: Do the original door cards fit on as they are or do you need to modify then?)

no amp just running a sony 10 cd multichanger

ok then.. id probably say just go to halfords, and have a play with their 10cm ones and see which you prefer..

unless you are gonna amp it, its not worth spending lots and lots.. also be aware than even if you put the best 10cm ones in that money can buy, you wont get bass from them.. you will need bigger speakers for bigger bass

Funny enough Im having my system fitted this Saturday, Im just like you pip im not bothered

about massive speakers and amplifiers, so I bought a Kenwood MP3 head unit and 4 10cm

Pioneer speakers and that should be just right for me.

Good to hear that markey.. i take it they are 16.5cm ones?

also to chas, im not that bothered about amps and big speakers, but i find that small speakers cant hit any real low notes, and suffer with bass.. i listen to lots of different music, but i listen to it loud and distorting cos of the bass isnt good..

Thinking of a similar set up myself, upgraded Alpine 2-way speakers, and i'll make up a set of custom MDF ring mounts for a set of JBL 6x9's on the rear cards !!!

Pics to follow !!! (When I can be arsed to do it, still ain't finished my Rover replacement set-up lol)
