Guest bloopeta
call me stupid if you like, but what does it take to convert a manual roof to electric?? is it just a case of motor and rams etc? of do you have to change the frame?? also my mates has some sort of clips that holds his roof down, mine doesnt, so does this mean mine once was electric?? my heads battered, I need a rest LOL

Guest bloopeta
yep just a case of rams etc but you do have to alter the frame and put in some bolts that the rams attach to not sure about yours once being electric but every roof i 've seen wether elec or manual has had roof handles at front that clip the roof down ??? sorry I think you have misunderstood what I mean bud, I have handles at the front that clip roof down, ofcourse i do, what i mean is he has things that clip his roof down at the bac, when the roof is down
Guest Keith
The clips at the back are only on the manual roof to keep it from lifting when the roof is down. If you fit a power kit you need to cut these off with a grinder else the roof wont lift up, obviously, and end up knackering either pump or ramps at worst. Also you need to change the ram mounting bolts as they are different on the power rams but you may have problems getting hold of the top pins unless they come with the kit you get. Apart from that its easy to do you just need to wire it up, fit the pump out of the way and enjoy. Ive just put electrics on mine and it was easy as, much better now having power. Guest Cabbytech
If you remove the plastic cowls that the manual levers are in, you can undo the bolt that holds each one, rather than grinding them, it only takes about 5 mins longer to do. the wiring loom is fairly straightforward and if you cant get the correct switch, one for the passenger side electric window from a mk4 will do.
