Bosch 4Bn Silver Batteries...

Well, you can tell the sun's been getting to my head as last night before bed I decided as an "exercise in futility" to finally have a look at the old battery from our cabby.

(The car, for those that don't know, had sat for more than 8 years when we bought it and recomissioned around Feb/March time and the battery was obviously utterly flat in this time and probably frozen a good few times also in the few harsh winters).

Anyway, I got the meter across it and found 750Mv (less than a volt) hiding in there, and also got the ammeter between it and the charger to find it accepted a few milliamps so decided to leave my trusty Gunson hooked up to it overnight and see what happened.

Imagine my surprise just now when I open the garage to find the charger happily shoving 2.5A into the thing and the voltage across the terminals after 5 min disconnected at 12.67V...

Going to leave it on trickle the rest of the day and see what it drops to over a couple of nights after that, but major praise to the people at Bosch for making a battery (4BN with silver technology) that can stand for that long discharged and still even accept a charge!

Still shocked, chucked the battery in the escort yesterday and it's been fine so far... Even coped with a heatsoaked starter and short journeys to the shop with the fan blasting on full haha... Bosch FTW!
