Guest Xr3iInUS
I have a 1.6i that was imported from Germany to the US in the 1980s. It has a rod through the block. Over here, the 1.6 was mostly carbed, FI wasn't mainstream until 1985.5 when they introduced the 1.9 Apparently we had some early 1.6 injected turbos but they are fairly rare. I can find 1.6 carbed engines pretty much everywhere though. Did you have carbed 1.6 over there, and are there differences in the block internals between that and injected? My hope is to use the current head and Bosch injection system that is on the car now, but with an unbroken block. Thanks
StuDaBear
1600cvh was the biggest cvh we had in escorts over here, afaik people have converted naturally aspirated to forced induction, so no reason why it can't go the other way, pistons and rods probably are the differances. They were available as carb or injection too.
