Guest Joe35
I'm having problems getting the cabby to have a stable idle, can anyone help by telling me where I start to look at to see where the problem is???
Ian71
Check the hoses off of the inlet manifold for leaks,or replace them.

Guest El87cabi
Theres a small brass idle adjustment screw located on the plemim? chamber near or on the throttle body air inlet (apologies for my vagueness) that can be removed and cleaned if you've found all the breather hoses mentioned earlier aren't blocked
Guest Joe35
Thanks for message, ive turned the screw to the point you can't turn it anymore but the idle is still high, do you think that it needs a clean or there is another problem else where?? Ian71
If tickover still eratic might be worth taking to a ford dealer or decent garage who know the cvh engine, those are the normal tweeks to sort it.
Ian71
Think it unlikely to be electrical
Guest Joe35
I think I'll take the throttle body air inlet thing off and give it a clean and if the idle hasn't changed I'll take it to the garage, thanks for replies!!
Ian71
Yea i take mine to my little local ford dealers, the older mechanics cut there teeth on the cvh, they say mfi better then efi, they did exactly what i told you
Guest El87cabi
With that screw if you unscrew it as far as you can then get some needle nose pliers on the end you can pull it out if your careful to clean the carbon deposits off (do not drop and lose it though) You can also adjust the mixture to some degree from the metal pipe onto of the airbox, can't remember if its an allen key or screwdriver you need to do it though
Guest Joe35
I'll give that a go,with the metal hole in the air box I've read alittle about it its a 3mm allen key but you can only turn it a fraction so ill try cleaning the screw first, will keep you updated
Guest El87cabi
Sounds about right, another got idea if you have oil on your air filter is to remove the emissions breather pipe from the airbox and block that end of the pipe off
Guest Joe35
Bit of an update,I have taken the idle screw out and cleaned it,it was dirty but didn't really make a difference once put back in! I tried move the air box idle screw and once I think it's right I let it run for abit then turn it off then back on and it's idling very high so I don't know!! I took the air box hose of and there was a bit of oil around the ke-jetronic,cleaned that and the air hoses going into the throttle housing but still not any good!! Is the emissions breather pipe the big pipe going into the throttle housing or another one??
