Guest Jon3i
Hi, I am new here after 'lurking' around for a few months. I have recently saved a cabriolet for restoration, which I will start a tread on soon with my photo diary i have been keeping. It's a very honest car and apart from the wheels has been unmolested and very few bits replaced After stripping everything out, it was good to see that it hasn't had any paintwork, patches etc I'd like to take it back to original spec (and as close to original condition as my wallet will allow!) however I'm getting mixed messages regarding what original looked like for my car. After reading pages of threads across the internet about the so called '88 vs 90' specs, many of which condtradic I am no closer to knowing what my car would have looked like at new... So, based on the condition I have no reason to think that whats on the car is anything other than original, however a lot can happen in 25+ years! So she has 90 spec hollow decals Grey interior with the red/blue flecks (zolda?) Petrol gauge on left of cluster Extended centre console 88 Spec front bumper First registered 29 Sept '88 Now what I gather is that 89 seems to be when the full change to '90 spec' occured, however I have seen elsewhere that people say there were some mixed up specs, mainly owing to Ford's lengthy options lists. So is it at all possible, that this is all standard? Thanks! Jon
StuDaBear
Mine is a 89 with half leather zolda, but 88 spec bumper, its log booked as some special edition though.
welshlad
mines a 91 - 90 spec but has a 80 spec front bumper but poss might be because its a euro import or a past owner could only get hold of a optional RS skirt for the older bumper ?
