Difference Between Mk7 Hardtop And Soft Top Suspension?

im looking for a set of uprated shocks for the cabby but some say they fit all models but some say they don't fit cabbys, estates or gti's. Is there actually any difference in suspension?

they will all fit to the car, ones for the estates and cabrios may be a stiffer spring to accomodate the extra weight
